WHC 1-14 Ajax
By Theo Ruizenaar
ROTTERDAM, Netherlands (Reuters) – Ajax Amsterdam’s Uruguay forward Luis Suarez hit six goals in a 14-1 thrashing of amateurs WHC Wezep in the Dutch Cup fourth round on Wednesday.
Suarez, who helped Uruguay qualify for next year’s World Cup in South Africa, scored twice in the first half and added four more after the break as Ajax ran riot to reach the last eight.
The result was a Dutch Cup record for Ajax, whose previous best was a 10-0 win over Rapiditas Weesp in 1961. NAC Breda hold the overall record with an 18-1 win over Dongen in the 1950s.
Suarez will be unable to repeat his heroics when Martin Jol’s side take on NEC Nijmegen in the quarter-finals after picking up his second yellow card in the competition.
The Uruguayan, top scorer in the Dutch league with 18 goals in 17 matches, was joined on the scoresheet by Marko Pantelic and Ismail Aissati who also grabbed first-half doubles.
Kennedy Bakircioglu scored a brace in the second period of the match against Wezep, who play in the third tier of Dutch soccer and hosted the game at second division Zwolle’s ground.

Man United reaches Champions League final again
Arsenal 1 – 3 Manchester United
Back in the European Champions League final for the second straight year, Manchester United wants to add to titles it won in 1968, 1999 and last year.
Manchester United will go to Rome to defend their Champions League trophy after beating Arsenal 3-1 at the Emirates. Two early goals from Park Ji-Sung and Ronaldo killed the tie off in the first half, before Ronaldo sealed the win and Robin van Persie netted a consolation.
World player of the year Cristiano Ronaldo scored two goals and set up another. Park Ji-sung also scored for Manchester United, which won the home-and-home, total-goals series on 4-1 aggregate and will play in the May 27 final at Rome against Chelsea or Barcelona.
Park scored in the eighth minute following a slip by defender Kieran Gibbs, who tried to intercept Ronaldo’s cross. Ronaldo made it 2-0 three minutes later with a swerving 35-yard free kick that beat goalkeeper Manuel Almunia to the near post.
O’Shea’s early strike puts Man United in charge
John O’Shea’s early goal put Manchester United in control of their Champions League semi-final against Arsenal with a 1-0 first-leg win at Old Trafford on Wednesday.
The holders scored in the 17th minute when Irish defender O’Shea rifled in a half-volley from eight yards after Michael Carrick had turned Anderson’s deep corner back across goal.
